Growing in an International Environment: Ainhoa’s Career Journey at ALTEN

Ainhoa

Consultant

Starting a career is always a special moment, especially when it comes with an international adventure. Ainhoa Roldan took that leap, moving from Spain to Germany, where she now works as a Consultant at ALTEN.

In this interview, she shares insights into her daily work, her experiences in the V.I.E program, and why stepping out of your comfort zone is worth it.

What is your current role at ALTEN?

I am an engineer and work as a consultant, currently assigned to an Aerospace Project in Donauwörth. My work focuses on inventory management, data analysis, and ensuring regulatory compliance across the entire value chain.

What makes ALTEN a great employer for you, and would you choose it again?

What stands out to me about ALTEN is the trust placed in young engineers early on. You get the opportunity to work on significant projects with globally leading clients and take on important responsibilities independently. At the same time, you receive support to grow both professionally and personally. I would definitely choose ALTEN again.

Why did you choose to move to Germany through the V.I.E program?

Germany is a global leader in engineering. Working here allows me to learn from top-tier industrial standards while gaining valuable international experience. This combination is incredibly enriching for my personal and professional development.

What has been your personal highlight at ALTEN so far?

Professionally, it has been exciting to work with sensitive and critical data in the field of hazardous materials. I have significantly expanded my knowledge of tools like SAP and am currently diving deep into Skywise.

Personally, my biggest highlight is the international network I have built. Meeting colleagues and friends from diverse backgrounds has greatly enriched my daily life.

What advice would you give to recent graduates?

My advice is simple: Say yes to challenges, even if they seem intimidating at first. Moving abroad or taking on significant responsibilities is not always easy, but it’s through these experiences that you learn to adapt, grow quickly, and stay calm in stressful situations. Ultimately, you become a stronger and more independent person.

Did you experience any culture shock?

I would not call it a culture shock, but rather a natural adaptation process. Every country has its own way of working and communicating. Adapting to these differences has been fascinating and has helped me become more flexible and versatile in an international environment.
