At the heart of an ultra-connected world
A business request?

In the ever-evolving landscape of Telecoms & Media, the advent of 5G technology has been introduced in a new era of connectivity and content consumption. This dynamic intersection of telecommunications and media has created unprecedented opportunities and challenges for businesses. From delivering high-speed, low-latency services to meeting the demands of an increasingly data-hungry world, companies must navigate a complex terrain to remain competitive and relevant in this fast-paced industry.
Operator strategies for fibre and 5G investments
In order to achieve their substantial investment goals in fibre and 5G infrastructure, operators are streamlining their business models, with a primary emphasis on spectrum allocation and service offerings. They are employing strategies like infrastructure outsourcing, which encourages the rise of TowerCo industry leaders, and reinforces their nearshore-offshore policies.

What are the market trends in the Telecoms industry?
The proliferation of connected things, the generalisation of 4K television, the surge in mobile video consumption, and the ongoing digital transformation across all industries, including cloud computing and e-health applications make deployment of the very high-speed infrastructure (FTTH, 5G, etc.) essential in order to support the development of the digital economy.
Mobile network traffic has almost doubled in just 2 years, from 66 EB per month in Q1 2021 to 126 EB in Q1 2023. Traffic growth is driven by both the rising number of smartphone subscriptions and an increasing average data volume per subscription, fuelled primarily by increased viewing of video content.
Challenges:
- Meeting deadline requirements set by the authorities and pool investments in networks
- Improving the quality of services
- Preparing new economic models
Operators want to capture part of the value of the content and services delivered on their networks. This strategic diversification aims to generate new revenues and improve the customer experience.
Within 6 years, more than 5 million homes have subscribed to the British Telecom operator’s BT Sport channel. At the same time, Orange Money, a money transfer solution, now has more than 80 million customers.
Challenges:
- Enhancing infrastructure
- Repositioning oneself in the value chain against GAFAs
- Diversifying business lines (e.g. content production, banking, etc.)
Thanks to connected things (IoT – Internet of Things), the Telecoms industry is given the opportunity to deploy services and applications in new sectors (transport, energy, production, etc.): data monetisation, industry 4.0, connected vehicle and autonomous driving, etc.
Challenges:
- Developing new uses for IoT
- Valuing the data collected
- Guaranteeing the protection of data from IoT
